WUMC Junior High Youth Group

The United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) is a well-established part of many Methodist Churches. The Junior UMYF plans events and mission activities geared for youth in grades 5-8. Our meetings and events are open to all, which means you are always welcome to bring friends!

With the help of some wonderful parent volunteers, Pastor Nick Perry and Judy Toone, our Directory of Christian Education, work with our Junior High UMYF group to create a welcoming, safe, and fun environment. What an amazing age group this is to work with!

The Junior High UMYF meets approximately every other week, so be sure to check either this Web page, the announcements in the weekly and monthly Messenger, or the online church calendar for updates on meetings and events. We will occasionally have a combined event with the Senior High group such as the haunted tour of Old Fort Niagara we took this October or our recent pizza party!

Junior High Youth Group Blast

Having a Great Year!

Junior High Youth Group is off to a great year! It was an eerie Friday night in October as the youth group wandered from a bright warm fire into an old dark cemetery at Old Fort Niagara. Before you knew it, we were entering the “Haunted Fortress.” The night wasn’t all about the frightening events in the Fort. We also learned that the Wesley family was convinced that they lived in a haunted house. We even retold the story of King Saul’s unwise encounter with the Witch of Endor. Special thanks to Carol Descutner, Vinnie Pascoe, Annette Jones, and Brad Curcio who joined us for our spooky adventure!

In November, the junior high had a little competition with the senior high to see how well they knew their church on a wild scavenger hunt! On November 13 the senior high group joined us for a “Buffalo Bills Night Out’ where they heard some Buffalo Bills players share their faith stories.
