Annual Church Conference - December 2009

The Rev. Natalie Hanson, District Superintendent presided over our annual business meeting.

Rev. Natalie Hanson's enthusiasm for the future, including the merging of six annual conferences into three was inspiring. The evening included a relaxed sharing of information about our future as a member of the bigger conference as well as the business matters of our particular congregation. And seeing as this happened on a rather unusually exciting Buffalo sports night, we were even peppered with game scores intermittently, thanks to the "well-connected" in attendance. 

We shall not soon forget the evening's catch phrase: UpperNewYork.org. (Do check it out.)

Rev. Hanson was truly impressed and touched by the WUMC Youth in attendance, reminding us they are our future.	A meaningful and moving gesture of closure, Rev. Hanson directed us to encircle the room and take time to look at each member in the chain.

 

 

 

Puppets Big Day!

The puppets eagerly wait to meet their adoptive families. 

During the worship services on Sunday, October 18, our new puppets finally met their new families and friends at WUMC. During the children’s message, our puppets were introduced to the families that “adopted” them, as well as the congregation. We all celebrated with “An Order of Thanksgiving for the Adoption of a Puppet.”

The puppet ministry is a great way for our children to learn, express themselves, and be part of this wonderful church. What better way to glorify God than through the heart and eye’s of a child?

We will have a new Christmas Story this year that will be told with the help of our puppets.

WUMC Youth escorted individual puppets to their adoptive families.	Many families demonstrated their anticipation by creating signs of welcome.

2009 Women's Retreat

All who attended came away renewed and refreshed.  Plans for next year are eagerly anticipated!

 

 

Confirmation Class 2009

A year of hard work and fellowship culminated on May 31, 2009 when our Confirmation class and newest adult members of WUMC were welcomed into the congregation. We are so proud of them!
