Flu and Pneumonia Immunization Clinic - October 10
Barbara Saltarella

Fall will be here before you know it and so will flu season. In fact, the first advisory of 2010-2011 flu season was posted in August. The H3N2 flu bug has begun popping up in the United States. According to WebMD, there should be plenty of vaccine available. The 170 million doses on hand are already being shipped across the nation. For the first time, the seasonal flu vaccine is recommended for all men, women - including pregnant women - and children over the age of 6months. Exceptions include only those allergic to eggs or those with other health issues make vaccination unwise.

Once again, WUMC is hosting our annual Immunization Program. This year the Visiting Nursing Association will hold the Flu and Pneumonia Immunization Clinic at WUMC on Sunday, October 10, between 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m. The fee of $30.00 for a flu immunization and $45.00 for a pneumonia shot is payable by cash, check, or by your insurance with a valid insurance card. The following insurance will be billed: Medicare Part B, Independent Health, Univera, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Individuals will be billed for any amount not covered. Children ages 9-17 accompanied by a parent/guardian are welcome; consent forms available. You reserve a time slot for your shot by either signing up on the sheets available in the narthex or calling the church office (634-4800). Drop-ins before 3:45 p.m. will be accommodated if possible.

So Don't Wait - This Season Protect Yourself and Your Loved Ones by Getting a Flu Vaccination!
