Annual Blessing of the Animals

Each fall, a special outdoor service is held for our four-footed family members. This Blessing of the Animals ceremony is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures.  Cats, dogs, birds, and other animals are all welcomed.

	Psalm 104:24-25  (New Living Translation)   O Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In the wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures. Here is the ocean, vast and wide, teeming with life of every kind, both large and small.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   Special Services and Events Throughout the Year

On this page you will find information about special services and events provided at WUMC throughout the year. Join us as we joyfully celebrate Christian holidays, acknowledge special days, and provide unique worship experiences. A few of these special services are listed below.

• Rally Day in September begins our Christian Education program year with a great amount of enthusiasm.

• On the third Sunday of each month the 9:00 a.m. service is a special "King’s Kids Celebration" that includes songs kids know and puppets that tell the Bible story.

• In the fall Worldwide Communion Sunday service, a variety of breads on the Communion table represent that we are many people gathered together.

• On Celebration (Stewardship) Sunday, we all imagine what can happen in our church and outside of our church with our growing financial support.

• A special yearly Advent and Christmas theme helps us focus on the true meaning of the holiday season.

• Some Lenten seasons include Wednesday Souper Suppers that provide great entertainment, delightful fellowship, and a special time for all to strengthen spiritual growth.

• Since Pentecost is a core holiday in our church, we celebrate the church’s birthday with a meaningful service filled with beautiful music and candles.

   

   

 

Christmas Eve Services

Each Christmas Eve we provide several worship services, one of which we hope you will be able to attend this next holiday season. In the late afternoon we have a Christmas Before Dusk service that is preferred by those who want to be home before nightfall. The Children’s Christmas Celebration that usuall begins at 5:00 p.m. is a joyful celebration that is filled with traditional Christmas carols. We are blessed to have a talented family of musicians at WUMC who provide a Stille Nachtmusik concert that begins at 8:15 p.m. Many who attend the concert stay for the traditional 10:00 p.m. Christmas Candlelight Service. We invite you to join us in joyous celebration and worship at Christmas or any of our special services.
