National Healthcare Decision Day

National Healthcare Decision Day exists to inspire, educate, and empower the public and providers about the importance of advance care planning. The objectives of NHDD are to provide much needed information to the public, reduce the number of tragedies that occur when a person’s wishes are unknown, and to improve the ability of healthcare facilities and providers to offer informed and thoughtful guidance about advance care planning to their patients.

There will be a display with Advance care information as well as the Five Wishes form for you to pick up and read.

I will be available if you have any questions or if you need help filling out the form. You can contact me at bwsaltarella@aol.com or call my cell phone 604-5023, to make an appointment. Remember that by filing out this paperwork, you are giving your family a special gift.

Newbie? Welcome!

We are glad you are here today! Please grab a Timbit or hot beverage at the Oakgrove entrance.  An usher or greeter can get you a welcome bag.  We would love to connect with you during the week!  Please leave your contact info and any prayer requests in the basket or offering plate during the service.

Flower Sale

The Flower Sale is here. The order form is in the bulletin.  The form is the same as last year.  If you have any questions, please contact either Nancy Cimbal or Brenda.  The complete Mitchell Farms catalog is in the church office if you are looking for a particular plant or flower that is not on the form.  Thank you, in advance, for supporting WUMC with your order!

WUMC Photo Directory Update

Almost four years have passed since the WUMC Photo Directory was last published and it is startling to show how much has changed in that short time. People have come and gone, passed away and been born and much more, so it is time for an update.

I don’t plan to take new photographs of everyone as I think we all look pretty much the same as we did in 2014 but I would like to take your picture if you are new in church, were not photographed in 2014, perhaps a family member has passed away or been born.

I do plan to update the biographies for each person and family as what people wrote about themselves often focused on current events in 2014 and you may wish to update that information. I will provide everyone with a copy of their entry in the current Directory and ask you for an update…the only rule will be that the new text can’t be longer than your current write-up.

The target will be to have an updated Photo Directory ready to distribute on Rally Day in September.

Please keep an eye out for announcements in the Messenger and in church regarding scheduled times for photos and biography updates. If you have immediate comments or questions please call or email – Ed Howard, 639-0087 / edwardclarkhoward@gmail.com.

Re-Newed Ministry Opportunity

WUMC and Gateway-Longview are partnering to provide monthly birthday parties for the youth who reside just up the street from us. Every second Thursday of the month from 6:30-8pm, we will send volunteers to Gateway-Longview.  We have been asked to provide cake, cards, a spirit of joy and people to interact with these youth.  We are told that the boys LOVE to play cards!  Bakers, card makers, and volunteers are needed!  Please contact the church office to get your name on the list.  A volunteer application is required to participate on campus.
